Poetry brings much-needed balance into a neck-up, rational,
logic-centered world. Reading poems
- poetry - brings power and spirit into our lives that sometimes seem parched and lacking in inner
nourishment. Poetry is not about analyzing, criticizing, and taking apart the structure of poetic verse.
Poetry is for reading, listening, writing...being washed and drenched with poetic rhythm
and metaphor.

about: Paperback In other cultures, poetry is simply read together. In the United States, we have tended to "analyze" poetry. These poems are meant to be read with an enjoyment unguided by a need to "understand." The book is divided into 16 chapters dealing with men's issues such a war, love, fatherhood, communication, and denial. It works well for people new to and unfamiliar with poetry and for experienced readers. The book can be equally important to women. Poetry from both genders throughout the ages is represented. ~SLB~ |

about: Hardcover
Paperback For shear poignancy and haunting verse, its very hard to find the equal of these poems. Not a light-hearted collection, but nobody can come away unmoved by these words. "Never Shall I forget" by Elie Weisel I find overwhelmingly powerful. ~SLB~ |
